For all those who are reading this for the first time, I was one of the loudest voices on the newsgroups speaking about a "Rapture on Feast of Trumpets" this for Sept. 1999.
I'm sorry. I was wrong. I was a prideful idiot. I deceived myself. I have spoken presumptuously and deserve death under the Law according to Deuteronomy... And I deceived others who believed me. I lusted after the promise of the Kingdom, and through my pride and arrogance, I thought I could divine the time, and/or that I was worthy enough to be given divine revelation. Obviously, I was preaching out of my vain imagination, because I came to the wrong conclusions. Nothing happened! I was wrong! I'm sorry!

"Tishri 1" is 1999 if you take a day as a year.
Here are the rapture parallels to be found in our own new year's celebration:
1. People stay "awake" for the celebration.
2. "End of the world" type countdown
3. Loud "trumpet"-like noisemakers & people "shout".
4. Finding that special someone to kiss, as in the "marriage".
5. The heart of the celebration comes in the "twinkling of an eye"
at "the midnight cry".
6. It represents a "new birth" of "baby new year"
7. There is an old tradition that says it might be the 'end of the
world'
8. It's also a time known where you get to completely start over, totally
afresh, as the people raptured will be "made perfect" at that time, and
also "born again" as they enter the Kingdom.
Now, this date, Sept. 11th, is the JEWISH NEW YEAR! and has many of the same themes, but the parallels are more clear, and more relavant. Instead of finding someone to kiss, it's known as the "wedding festival", which stands for the marriage of the Bride of Christ, etc.
Also, there are some rapture parallels between traditional weddings
as well:
The woman wears a white, spotless clean robe.
She is carried through the open door of the threshold of the house
by the man.
She is hidden from the groom until the ceremony.
There is a honeymoon where the bride and groom get away from the world
afterwards.
Rev. 12 will be fulfilled literally by the placement of the stars, moon, and sun on Sept. 11th, 1999. It has appeared three times before, in each preceeding year on this date, and will be the last and final time it will appear all together, and then will not appear again for 29,000 years.

Thus, the eclipse on Aug. 11th, heralds the 30 days prior to Sept. 11th, in fulfillment of "before the coming of the Son of Man the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give it's light"

Since Yom Teruah is on Rosh Chodesh (first day of the month), and since, the sun will be darkened, this implies a solar eclipse as the moon is always between the sun and the moon at Rosh Chodesh
Preparation for Rosh Hashana should include - in addition to the daily shofar blast, the 27th Psalm, penitential prayers, visiting the cemetery and dispensing charity - an intensive study of the Rosh Hashana Machzor.

Scripture clearly states, "no man knows the day or the hour", and this is true of the start of Rosh Hashanna, Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets. It might be Sept 10th or 11th, 1999, or Trishi 1, 5760.
The day is determined by two witnesses. The two witnesses of Revelation begin their 3.5 year testimony at the start of the 7 year tribulation, which begins after the rapture/wedding.
Scripture says, you will arise at the sound of the last trump, and the last trump is sounded at this Jewish festival.
It is the end of 6 days since the creation of man.
It is the end of 2 days since Christ.
It is the end of the 50th year, the Jubilee of Isreal becomming a nation in 1948.

In the Jewish Tradition, the groom comes for the bride like a theif in the night, at a time when she knows not. And when he came, he came with an awaking shout, with the blowing of a trumpet. This, after leaving to prepare a room for the bride in his father's house.

A trumpet blast signifies the arrival and crowing of a King. The rapture is both the arrival of the King of Kings, and of the time of the crowing of his bride, who is to reign as King with Christ in Heaven.
