For those people who are interested in the study of Bible Prophesy and the future, myself included, sometimes we get caught up in the facination with exact dates. This page is evidence of that foolishness.

I recently wrote a letter to M.J. Agee, listing three reasons why I didn't think the Rapture could be pinpointed to May 31, 1998 or any date. My strongest argument were the scriptures that refer to "not knowing the day or the hour" of Christ's return. However, those scriptures refer to the fact that nobody knew at that time. In fact, the people alive when Christ came the first time were specifically told that they were not to know.
[Acts 1:6] So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?"
[Acts 1:7] He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has fixed by his own authority.
You can see that the date was pre-set by God even at that time. Finally, much of scripture is said to be specifically written for our benefit, for those who live at the time of the end, or in the last days. Who else could possibly benefit from the warnings about the Mark of the Beast?
Finally, I do think that the rapture is coming very, very, very, VERY soon, because of the Year 2000 computer problem.
For a list of Year 2000 problems THAT HAVE ALREADY HAPPENED, which will both amaze and motivate you, check out:
Here are some more Year 2000 links that are very good, all of which, if you look at this with some discernment, show that the Bible was right after all when it predicted FOOD SHORTAGES, DISEASE, and WAR as being among the biggest signs of Jesus coming, and being the biggest problems during the 7-Year Great Tribulation leading up to Armageddon and the establishment of Jesus' 1000-year kingdom.

Do you think you do not need to prepare for the comingyear 2000 disaster, and that you can totally rely on God to provide all your basic needs like FOOD, when the Bible clearly predicts FAMINES for the end of the age???
[Mat 24:7.15] For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
1. Mat 24:7.15 famines 2. Mark 13:8.23 famines 3. Luke 4:25.31 famine 4. Luke 15:14.11 famine 5. Luke 21:11.10 famines 6. Rom 8:35.17 famine 7. Rev 18:8.13 famine
[Rev 18:8.13] Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
Consider more of what the Bible says about being prepared and being AWAKE! (Interestingly, this is the ONLY mention of the ANT in the ENTIRE BIBLE!!! [And, note the 6,6 in the verse... Where else are 6's mentioned... Hmmm... 666, mark of the beast, as it relates to not being able to buy and sell....!!!])
[Prov 6:1] My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
[Prov 6:2] Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
[Prov 6:3] Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.
[Prov 6:4] Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
[Prov 6:5] Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
[Prov 6:6] Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
[Prov 6:7] Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
[Prov 6:8] Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
[Prov 6:9] How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
[Prov 6:10] Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
[Prov 6:11] So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
I believe the Y2K (year 2000) bug/virus will be a big problem, and I know that what the scriptures say about our future is very, very close to realization. I think there will be a world leader antichirist figure, and there will be a literal "Mark of the Beast" biochip implant needed to buy and sell. Now, this "Mark" is a computer device, to be read with computer devices hooked up to a global network, and this system must last a minimum of 3.5 years, possibly even 7 years long. Now, it's too late for this system to be instituted before Y2K, since we have only 1.5 years left. I believe the Y2K problem will be big, perhaps big enough to cause famine, disease and wars that will leave many dead (maybe 1/3 to 2/3 of the human race), but the Y2K problem cannot be so big and so disastrous that no computers will ever come back online, and it can't be so terrible that the power grid goes down permanantly... After all, it looks to me (and many others) that there has to be a global computer network infrastructure in place to fulfill Bible prophesy regarding the Mark of the Beast... To read what both what the Bible and the Web have to say about the "666" and "The Mark of the Beast" go to my website at: http://www.concentric.net/~Hommel/mark/
There are two more Biblical reasons why the year 2000 problem will not spell the end of all technology and computers.
First, because I think there needs to be a global communications network infrastructure in place for the whole world to have the global party when the two witnesses of Revelation are killed.
[Rev 11:9] And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
[Rev 11:10] And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
Second, the year 2000 cannot prove to be the end of all technology, because
[Luke 9:62] Jesus said to him, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God."
Literally, I take this to mean that technology is good, and will be in abundant use in the Kingdom of God.
And now, back to Rapture on Pentecost 1998 links:
One summary of reasons for Rapture on Pentecost, May 31, 1998:
1.The celestial signs during the last 3 years.
2. The events in Israel's history combined with different blocks of time that God has used in dealing with His people.
3. The ELS Bible codes.
4. Gematria connected with the calendar years starting with 1996 and their relationship with prime numbers, ASCII codes, etc.
5. Current events reflecting the activities of those ushering in the New World Order.
6. Revelations from Scripture that were previously hidden.
7. The many dreams, visions and prophetic insights that the Lord has been giving to believers world wide recently.
A Second summary of reasons for Rapture on Pentecost, May 31, 1998:
Psa. 122:3,4 (New Jerusalem Bible) says, "Jerusalem, built as a city, in ONE UNITED WHOLE, there the tribes go up, the tribes of Yahweh, A SIGN for Israel to give thanks to the name of Yahweh."
When Israel grew leaves (Sinai, Gaza Strip, West Bank and Golan Heights) and fulfilled the fig tree parable of Mt. 24:32-34 in the Six-Day War of 1967, there was only one 40-year generation left. This war was the SIGN OF THE END OF THE AGE (Mt. 24:3). 1967 + 40 = 2007, the end of the age.
The millennial Day of the Lord begins on Tishri 1, 5768, the Feast of Trumpets, our Sept. 13, 2007 (Joel 2:1,2). Dan. 8:14's 2300 days (counted by Jewish inclusive reckoning) when the Jews can sacrifice at the temple plus the time that they cannot because the False Prophet desecrates it, start on the Feast of Weeks/Pentecost, Sivan 6, 5761, our May 28, 2001, and end on the Feast of Trumpets, Tishri 1, 5768. We have already outlived any other time within the forty-years of probation that any similar period equals 2300 days. There is no other.
The year 5768 must be a leap year, and it is, for the Second Advent is seven months later (Ezek. 39:12) on Nisan 1 (Ezek. 29:17,21; Hosea 6:3). Since the Jewish leap year is roughly every three years, this date cannot be slid backward or forward one or two years in either direction.
The time between the Pre-Trib Rapture and the beginning of the Seventieth Week of Daniel (the Tribulation) is presented in the parable of the barren fig tree (Israel See Lu. 13:6-9). The four Jewish years are Pentecost to Pentecost, 5758, 5759, 5760 and 5761 (our 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001).
1998 has more going for it than any other year we have had. It is Israel's Jubilee Year. May 14, 1948, when Israel was resurrected, was Pentecost on the "Biblical" calendar, where only the new moon sighting is taken into consideration. The 50th year will begin this Pentecost, May 31, 1998. As it so happens, the "Biblical," "Hebraic" and "Talmudic" calendars all have Pentecost on Sunday, May 31, in 1998.
1998 is the 6000th year since man began to be tested as mortal and knowing both good and evil.
Counted from the time that Israel took the temple area in 1967, the Levitical priesthood is now over 30 and ready to officiate in the temple. Now, we are believer priests in the spiritual temple of the Holy Spirit. When we are raised up, it is time for the literal temple to be raised up (rebuilt) and Israel to take over the priesthood.
God's clock for Israel stopped on Pentecost in 30 AD. It would be just like the Lord to restart Israel's clock on Pentecost in 2001. There are seven years of Daniel's seventy weeks of years yet to run. On that day, the Holy Spirit will probably be poured out on Moses and Elijah to empower them for their 1260 days of prophesying during the first half of the Tribulation. If we back up the four Jewish years in the parable of the barren fig tree, we arrive at Pentecost for the Rapture of the Church also. In 30 AD, the Spirit of Christ came to fill the disciples on Pentecost. I think Christ will come to catch up those that are filled with the Holy Spirit on Pentecost this year.
Jack Langford saw something that I had not seen and came up with the same date for the Rapture, Pentecost, May 31, 1998 (Jerusalem time). Our only difference is that he thinks it will be at 9:00 AM, as when Peter was preaching on Pentecost in 30 AD. However, Acts 2:6 says, "Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together." That took some time for the news to travel and the multitude to assemble. I think it is midnight (Jerusalem time), all in a moment. We see it in the parable of the 10 virgins, also when Paul and Silas were in jail. At midnight, there was an earthquake. In a moment all the doors were opened and all shackles fell off. Things happened to Israel for examples for us upon whom the ends of the ages has come.
What Jack saw is this. What was played out in days in 30 AD is now being played out in years. In 30 AD, there was the Crucifixion (portrayed by the holocaust, burnt offering), the Resurrection after 3 days, and Pentecost on the 50th day. In our days, the Holocaust of the Jews (called the Crucifixion of the Jews in some books) ended in 1945. Three years later, Israel was resurrected. Fifty years later, Christ comes to the Church on Pentecost.
I am not a prophet, nor have I ever said the Rapture has to happen on this date. I have studied hard ever since about 1957, and this is how it looks to me. Study the scriptures to see if these things are so. I prayed for the Lord to give me understanding of all the things he wanted man to know about the Bible, all the deep things--everything.
